Welcome To The Australian Stock Market On Today.Com

Published by pundit at 7:00 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

I guess this is the hello world type of post - the first one on my new blog about the Australian Stock Market.

What Is This Blog About?

It’s mainly about investing.  I spend time each week researching which companies I should invest my money in, so I thought I would leverage that investment research here by publishing my impressions of some Australian listed companies.

I like to invest for the long term and base my investment decisions on fundamental analysis rather than technical analysis.  I like the idea of buying part of a very good business at a fair price (or even a bargain price).  Then I like to watch the value of the investment grow over time despite what the share price is doing.

The problem with this approach however is that it takes a lot longer to have your stock purchase decisions validated.  It not about watching what the share price is doing from day to day. You need to look at whether the company is earning the returns you expected.

But enough of that for now.  The other reason I started this blog is to see if I can make a little extra money.  You see, Today.com pay you to write for them.  I’m not sure how much money I can make, but they will pay me for each visitor which comes to the site.  You need to apply to create a blog, but the approval process is not too onerous - I was approved within one day.  If you’re interested in giving it a try, sign up at Today.com.  In the interests of transparency, I should point out that I’ll earn $5 for each new member I sign up.

So that’s it for now.  With Australian shares taking battering right now, the stock market will no doubt throw up some great bargains over the coming months.
